I restore Tim’s broken ARP Omni 2, rebuilding the power supply, replacing all the polarized capacitors, enhancing the filter, adding my LED sliders, and refurbishing the keybed.

Working on a couple of ARP Avatar guitar synthesizers. The "magic" of string frequency to control voltage conversion is in the epoxy filled E' module, though the design never worked so well. If only ARP had brought the Chroma to market instead of the Avatar and the Electronic Piano... Elsewhere one of the power supplies has a filter capacitor that leaked through its vent, and the other has a burned up current sense resistor (scorched all the way through the PCB, too). Smoke coming from the synth wasn't the intended way to sense an overcurrent situation... ![]()
