ARP Avatar Vintage Analog CV/Gate Synthesizer – Serviced with New Sliders

Description

The ARP Avatar was a keyboardless ARP Odyssey, with the addition of a guitar interface (which in the case of this Avatar is not working).  This synthesizer is controllable through the CV/Gate/Trigger interface.

The synthesizer is in decent condition, with some damage to the paint at the front right and some damage to the right wood side panel (see photos).  The High Pass Filter only seems to filter when the slider is maxed out (I have seen this on other ARP Avatars).  There is a bit of a noise floor, which is not really noticeable on the “low” output level.  I made a video to show these issues and to show that the synthesizer is in tune and scaling well through the CV/Gate Interface:

This ARP Avatar has been serviced by Synthchaser in June 2026.  Work done included:

• Synthchaser Precision slider upgrade – All 37 of the old original sliders have been replaced with new, smooth, high precision sliders (Bourns sliders). The difference in the way these sliders feel and perform compared to the originals is a huge improvement.
• Recapped all accessible polarized capacitors – including power supply and all tantalum capacitors except those in the epoxy sealed submodule
• 4075 Filter cutoff frequency correction
• Tuned & Calibrated Synthesizer Section

The guitar interface circuit boards are present, including the D’ and E’ modules.  The epoxy potted E’ module on this synthesizer is bad, and no further testing was done to the guitar interface components.  The guitar interface portion of this synthesizer is being sold as non-functioning.
