For sale is a sweet sounding vintage ARP Pro/DGX Mk. I, aka the Pro Soloist III. This is the model to get! It has the same sounds and fat ladder filter as the Pro Soloist, but with more reliable and more performance friendly pushbutton voice selection switches. This keyboard is the sound of 1970’s Genesis.
This synthesizer has just been overhauled and serviced by Synthchaser, the west coast’s leading ARP specialist – recapped, new key bushings, new LED sliders, the all new LED transpose switch upgrade, new aftertouch sensor, and a brand new Synthchaser 4034 VCF submodule, which sounds just like the original only better! Has some cosmetic issues as seen in the photos – scratches on the case and panels, some velcro stuck to the top, a previous owner scratched their name and phone number in an inconspicuous place (sorry, it’s not Tony Banks!), and the bottom panel isn’t original. What this lacks in its physical shell, it more than makes up for with cool looking and awesome sounding upgrades:
- Synthchaser Precision LED slider upgrade. All 4 of the old original sliders have been replaced with new, smooth, high precision LED illuminated sliders. The difference in the way these sliders feel and perform compared to the originals is a huge improvement.
- Synthchaser ARP 4034 Voltage Controlled Filter submodule – Replaced the original 4034 filter submodule with the Synthchaser clone. Same design as the original but better quality components and construction result in the same sound, just better!
- Synthchaser LED Octave Transpose Switch – Replaces the original clunky and funky transpose switch with LED illuminated transpose pushbutton switches
- Synthchaser Capacitor Kit installed – All reasonably accessible polarized capacitors in the synthesizer (not just the power supply) have been replaced to ensure stable operation for years to come.
- New aftertouch sensor – The original aftertouch sensors are a common failure point and the aftertouch effects are what makes this synthesizer so expressive–we replaced the aftertouch sensor with a new long-lasting one to ensure the aftertouch will work for years to come.
- Action restoration – New key bushings installed, keys removed and cleaned, buss bars cleaned and key contacts adjusted
- New power cord, new vibrato pot, all new touch sensor paddle switches
- Aftertouch and all aftertouch effects working great: Volume, Wow, Growl, Brilliance, Volume, Vibrato
- Oscilloscope Calibration – Fully calibrated to factory spec under measurement by oscilloscope
Local pickup in San Diego is welcome and encouraged! If being shipped, the instrument will be professionally packed by the UPS store and insured for the full purchase price, but this is a vintage electronic item, so all sales will be as-is and final.
