Description
The Sequential Circuits Prophet VS synthesizer stores presets in memory with the use of a battery backup. Unfortunately the battery is soldered to the board and not easy to change. It’s also not a cheap battery that’s easy to find at the local drugstore. Also, the original 40 year old CMOS RAM chips are failure prone and memory retention issues are very common on these machines.
Enter the Synthchaser Battery Eliminator module! These modules replace the original memory chips and don’t need a battery to save the data, much like a flash drive! The original memory chips are soldered to the board, so desoldering/soldering is required for installation. Machine pin sockets are included if you wish to socket these. If you’re not comfortable installing these, installation services are available. You do not need to send the whole synthesizer, just the processor board.
While you have the board out to install this upgrade, consider rebuilding the power supply which is on this board as well with our great kit!
