Synthchaser Battery Eliminator for Prophet 5 Rev 3.0 Synthesizer

Description

The Prophet 5 Rev 3.0 synthesizer stores presets in memory with the use of a battery backup.  Unfortunately the battery is soldered to the board and not easy to change.  It’s also not a cheap battery that’s easy to find at the local drugstore.  Also, the 8 original 40 year old CMOS RAM chips are failure prone and memory retention issues are common on these machines.

Enter the Synthchaser Battery Eliminator module!  This user-installable module replaces the original memory chips and doesn’t need a battery to save the data, much like a flash drive!  For less than the cost of 1 battery change by a tech, you’ll never need to change batteries again!

Please note this is for the Prophet 5 Rev 3.0 only (not 3.1, etc). Battery Eliminators for the other Prophet 5 revisions are coming soon!  If you have questions about compatibility with your Prophet 5, please send a photo of your CPU board and I will advise, but basically it should look like the one in the photo of the installed product with 8 RAM chips in the upper left corner.

If you’ve installed an aftermarket MIDI adapter, compatibility is not likely nor guaranteed.   If you don’t already have one, please consider adding the optional IC extractor to your order.  Using this tool makes it much easier to remove your old chips and reduces the chance of accidentally damaging something.
