Description
The Moog Micromoog is a very beefy 32-key monosynth, and my top pick of the single oscillator vintage Moog synthesizers. The wide range oscillator can be made beefier with the “doubling” feature that lets you mix in your choice of a -1 or -2 octave suboscillator. Features the classic fat Moog ladder filter, and has a nice selection of modulation sources (noise, square & triangle LFOs, and sample & hold) and routing options.
This synthesizer is in good condition for a workhorse synthesizer from April 1978. One screw is missing from the bottom due to damage to the particle board base, and the metal trim on the case has minor damage at some points (see photos). There is a dead zone between 0 and -3 on the filter contour pot, and sometimes the loudness and filter sustain switches can be touchy. This synthesizer was serviced in July 2023 by Synthchaser. Work done included:
- Clean pots & switches
- Refurbish keybed – new bushings, cleaned bus bar & j-wires
- Calibrate & tune
