Description
The Prophet 5 is the quintessential analog synth of the 1980’s, used by everyone on everything at the time. This Prophet 5 has been fully overhauled by Synthchaser. Not just serviced, but overhauled–recapped, power supply rebuilt, new bushings, new battery, new metal badges, fully functional, stable tuning, sounding and looking great.
This is a Rev 3.2, with 40 patch memory and no MIDI, although it’s capable of accepting a MIDI retrofit. The restoration of this Prophet 5 was featured on the Synthchaser youtube channel, and a video of the finished keyboard demoing the factory patches is at:
This is an extremely nice example of the Prophet 5, in excellent condition for a 35 year old synthesizer, see photos for specifics (2 small holes drilled in back panel for ?, small chip on wood side panel, slightly bent fins on heat sink).
- Synthchaser Capacitor & Power Supply Rebuild Kit installed – All tantalum and aluminum electrolytic capacitors in the synthesizer (including but not just limited to the power supply), as well as the bridge rectifier diodes and voltage regulators have been replaced to help provide stable operation for years to come.
- Keyboard rebuilt – New key bushings installed, keybed leveled, keys removed and washed, buss bar and key contacts cleaned and adjusted
- New battery
- Factory patches loaded
Prospective buyers are welcome to come try it out before purchasing. Local pickup is welcome and encouraged. If being shipped, the instrument will be professionally packed by the UPS store and insured for the full purchase price, but this is a vintage electronic item, so all sales are as-is and final. But visit the Synthchaser youtube channel and rest assured that a high quality, detailed restoration was done to this synthesizer.
