Description
This kit contains replacements for all the polarized (tantalum and electrolytic) capacitors, and all Logic ICs, Operational Amplifiers, and some other key ICs in the ARP Omni 2 synthesizer. 111 capacitors and 81 ICs in total!
If your synthesizer has not yet been recapped, is broken, or has hanging or silent notes this kit is an essential starting point in any repair. The original low quality tantalum capacitors were prone to shorting out and were easily damaged by transient voltage spikes when turning on and off the keyboard. The original electrolytic capacitors have long since dried out and stopped performing as they should. This kit contains high quality electrolytic capacitors to replace these failed or failing capacitors and provide decades of stable operation. The original CMOS chips used in these synthesizers are prone to failure. We find it a best practice to replace all these chips in this keyboard to fix issues it may be having and to prevent future issues from popping up as chips fail.
We provide quality, name brand, long life components. Axial capacitors are provided to replace axial capacitors, radial capacitors to replace radials. High temperature 105°C capacitors provided for the power supply section and voltage values were increased above the original where they will physically fit to ensure rock solid operation and long life.
This kit includes all the capacitors you will need for the entire keyboard, including the power supply and the 4075 VCF submodule with no nickel and diming! As a bonus, we also provide at no charge the necessary parts to correct a design error which limited the frequency response of the 4075 VCF to 12kHz, and the instructions to install it if you wish to do so. Users who have installed this modification have reported a very noticeable improvement in sound.
We also provide a checklist of the components provided for each board, to reduce your time wasted poring over the schematics and scratching your head wondering where that last capacitor or IC is supposed to go.
The LM301 op-amp is obsolete in through-hole form. Rather than sending sketchy or ancient “NOS” chips, we include new, genuine surface mount LM301s pre-soldered to a DIP adapter. Machine pin headers are included, and you will need to solder them onto the boards.
The Omni Mk 1 and Omni Mk 2 keyboards have slightly different architectures. We offer kits for both the Omni 1 and Omni 2, please be sure to order the correct one for your keyboard. This product requires disassembly of the synthesizer and soldering skills to install. Please contact us if you require installation services.
